BOOX launched a new accessory for streamlining interactions without touching your device. Called Tappy, the small Bluetooth remote lets users turn pages, scroll through articles, and control audiobook playback without touching their screen. In other words, another e-ink competitor just embraced the long-requested accessory Amazon still hasn’t added to the Kindle experience.

Tappy lands with roughly 32 feet of wireless range and supports three modes. In Reading Mode, users can turn pages in most supported reading apps. Browsing Mode scrolls vertically through articles and feeds, and Listening Mode adds track controls for audiobooks and music playback. BOOX says the device’s 95mAh battery supports multi-week battery life, which it recharges via USB-C.
The accessory also works beyond BOOX tablets. as reported by the company, users can also pair Tappy with smartphones.
Tappy is available now for $25.99. The Sage model is available through Amazon, while the Citrus model is bundled directly through BOOX.
Alongside cases and stands, page turners have become an increasingly popular e-reader accessory. Many Kindle owners buy clip-on remotes and awkward screen-tapping gadgets just to read hands-free in bed or on a treadmill. Amazon, meanwhile, still doesn’t offer a first-party option. More than anything, Tappy feels like another reminder that Amazon’s competitors are often moving faster in upgrading the overall reading experience.
