I’m sure there are quite a few of you out there considering a TV upgrade ahead of the major sporting events this summer. Well, if you want a cheap and simple upgrade, you can buy the Amazon Fire TV 4-Series 50-inch 4K TV at Amazon for $279.97 (was $459.99), which is an excellent price for a budget mid-sized.
The Amazon Fire TV 4-Series has been as low as this only a handful of times in the past. However, it doesn’t happen very often. Usually, there are more incremental discounts which bring it nearer the $400 mark. Last time we saw such a huge price drop was back in February, so we couldn’t confidently say when the next hefty cut will come.

For the money, you’ll find that the Amazon Fire TV 4-Series 50-inch 4K TV has all the essentials. There’s an Alexa remote to save you from tapping buttons, you can access all your favorite apps and services, and there’s HDR10+ support to improve the lighting and colors.
The Amazon Fire TV 4-Series is a straightforward TV that may not excel at anything, but it has the basics you could need for general everyday viewing. There’s also HDR10+ support for more vibrant colors, Dolby Audio for improved sound, Alexa+ for handy smart features, Wi-Fi 6 for better connectivity, and four HDMI inputs. AirPlay means you can easily share content from other devices, too. It also has neat details like a motion-activated screensaver, so your TV can show your favorite artwork any time you enter.
We haven’t reviewed the Amazon Fire TV 4-Series, but we’ve often found other Amazon Fire TVs to be pretty good for the price. For instance, the Amazon Fire TV Omni QLED offers a similar smart TV experience and features among our pick of the best TVs.
While it’s no premium QLED or OLED display from the likes of Samsung or LG, its 4K panel is respectable, with HDR10+ support ensuring improved contrast and better details even in dark scenes.
It’s also easy to browse and find something to watch, with the Alexa Voice Remote making it simple to browse channels and apps with your voice. Elsewhere, there’s Omnisense tech innovation, which means its built-in sensors wake the display when you enter the room. Wi-Fi 6 support is useful too if you want the latest protocols.
It adds up to make an appealing budget TV for anyone needing to keep costs down or simply wanting to place an inexpensive TV in their den, their child’s room, or even the kitchen.
If you can afford to spend more and want superior picture quality, take a look at the OLED TV deals happening right now, and read up on the best 50-inch TVs.
